אתמול הוצאתי את הסיכום הראשון של הַקַּו הַחַם לְדִוּוּחַ עַל הִתְנַכְּלוּיוֹת לְנוֹצְרִים. אמנם הקו החם הושק רשמית ב- 16 ליוני 2023 אבל חיכיתי לסוף חודש יולי, לראות אם "יש מספיק התנכלויות" כדי להוציא סיכום. החלטתי ש-20 תלונות ע"פ 31 ימים זה מספיק...
אחרי פרסום הדו"ח הגיעו תגובותיהם המיידיות של-
1. שגרירות הוותיקן 2. הרב דוד רוזן ורעייתו שרון. תגובות של הערכה וחיזוק, תגובות מדרבנות ומעודדות להמשיך במשימה.
ואכן - אמשיך/נמשיך עד שהנושא ההזוי הזה יטופל באופן מקסימלי ע"י הרשויות. הנושא שבשבילו הוקם הקו החם - דוחה (אין לי מילה אחרת). במסגרת הפרוייקט אני צופה בעוד ועוד סרטים של יהודים יורקים, אני רושמת עוד ועוד תלונות מאנשים פגועים. בדו״ח של יולי, הכנסנו, כאמור, 20 התנכלויות אבל יש עוד עשרות מקרים ובכוונת הקו החם להגיע לכולם. לאורך כל הדרך פטרו את התופעה כ"שולית", "מעשה של ילדים". מרגע שהקו החם מתעד עדויות של המעשים השונים- אי אפשר להמשיך ולהעמיד פנים. יש תופעה, והיא הולכת וגדלה.
כתבתי את הדו"ח באנגלית כדי שלא יטמינו אותו בארונות של משרדי הממשלה. ואכן זה עשה את שלו. התגובה הראשונה מהותיקן ופתאום גם ממשרד החוץ... תודה ואכן יש הכרה בבעיה.
דֶּרֶךְ הַחַתְחַתִּים של הפרוייקט.
אז לפני שאשתף כאן את הדו"ח, אסכם בכמה מילים את דֶּרֶךְ הַחַתְחַתִּים של הפרוייקט:
1. ראשית הכנו רשימה של כל המנזרים והמוסדות הנוצריים (קודם בירושלים , אח"כ בארץ כולה), ושמנו לכל אחד מתנדב, דובר השפה (במידה ואפשר) שתפקידו להתקשר פעם בשבוע ולברר מה שלומם, ואם היו מקרים של התנכלויות.
במידה ויש אירועים - המתנדבים עוזרים במילוי טופס של הקו החם. אם המותקף מסכים - עוזרים בהגשת תלונה למשטרה.
2. כל זה יכול להיות רק כאשר ראשי הכנסייה מסכימים וקוראים לקהל שלהם לשתף פעולה, כמו הלטינים, הארמנים והפרוטסטנטים. הגדיל הפטריארך הלטיני (כיום: קרדינל פיירבטיסטה פיצאבלה) והוציא מכתב לכל הקהילות שלוץ, המעודד אותן לשתף פעולה עימנו. אני עדיין נאבקת להשיג את ההסכמות של ראשי העדות האורתודוכסיות (היוונים אורתודוכסים ואח"כ הקופטים).
3. הקמת הקו החם הצריכה מערך ממוחשב, טפסים קצרים וקולעים, תרגום הטפסים לעשר שפות (מערבית ואנגלית לרומנית, פולנית, ארמנית ורוסית ועוד).
האתגר הבא: מערך אוטומטי של הכנסת הטפסים לתיקייה אחת, לדו"ח אחד שנוכל להגיש לכל דורש.
באחד הביקורים בקוסטודיה , מצאתי את ערימת כרטיסי הקו החם על מדף עם חומרים כנסייתיים שונים...
"דם, יזע ודמעות" לצד אכפתיות, מסירות והתנדבות הדרך להקמת הקו החם לדיווח על התנכלויות לנוצרים הייתה ב- ״דם, יזע ודמעות״. אפס עזרה ממי שהיה מתבקש שיעזרו ויתמכו. להפך (ולא אפרט). אין מימון כספי ואין אפילו הצעה מהארגונים שפניתי אליהם לעזור בניהול ההמחשב ולא בפרסום מקצועי של הדו"ח. אבל הפרוייקט קם ומתפקד וזאת בזכות האכפתיות, האחריות והמסירות של מתנדבים נפלאים, אנשים שאינם משויכים למוסדות ואינם מקבלים שכר על מעורבותם. למשל בחורה צנועה שהקימה את כל המערך הממוחשב של הקו החם ומסורה לתפקודו ברמה יומיומית. ללא תמורה.
תודה לך חגית צחי הנהדרת. אז בזכות האנשים הרבים שאכפת להם וכאשר מקבלים מהנפגעים הכרת תודה - המצברים מתמלאים כדי להמשיך קדימה.
עניין של זמן ושל בניית אמון: רק כאשר נפגשים, מאזינים ו"חולבים" - עולים סיפורים שהם 'לא חשבו שיש צורך לשתף'.

July 2023 Report on anti-Christian incidents
in Jerusalem and throughout Israel
The Religious Freedom Data Center for documenting anti-Christian attacks, was founded in June 2023. The center receives the data through a hotline which is operated and financed by private citizens. It is not affiliated with any governmental institution or political body.
Purpose and objective: The center was established in response to the sad reality of recurrent acts of violence against Christian citizens and resident Christian clergy, religious edifices, and symbols in Jerusalem and throughout Israel. State institutions and the public-at-large find it easy to ignore or marginalize the phenomenon in the absence of documentation and complaints to the police. This data center aims to document all such incidents, assist the victims in filing police complaints, and bring the data to the attention of the relevant institutions and the general public.
Method: The hotline was established to receive reports on assaults through a telephone line and an online system in ten different languages. The hotline volunteers compile a monthly report of the complaints, contact the victims, and offer their help in filing a complaint with the police. The hotline volunteers are in weekly contact with the different Christian communities and institutions to follow up on their status and progress vis-à-vis the police.
Current report: Since the launch of the center (June 16, 2023), 30 assaults have been reported to the hotline, and a total of 60 reported assaults listed since January 1st 2023. We estimate that dozens more have taken place but have not been reported. In the following charts, the summary is of July 2023 only.

A nurse refused to take a blood test from a Christian nun. The nun waited until another nurse arrived and took blood.

King Davids Tomb, Mount Zion, Jerusalem 07/03/2023
A nun was stopped and refused entry to the women's section of King David's tomb by a Jewish woman, who told her she was not allowed to enter.

Mount of Beatitudes, Galilee , 07/04/2023
The symbol of a cross, and of the church, were erased from the official road sign on the road leading to the site of the Mount of Beatitudes.

Jaffa Gate Old City, Jerusalem 07/07/2023
A tour guide with 3 Chinese tourists, stood next to the mezuzah at Jaffa Gate for an explanation. A religious Jew began shouting frighteningly at the group, "Don't touch. Don't touch. Don't touch! You Goyim!" and then moved physically and closely among them.

At around 5:30 PM, garbage began to be thrown into the convent garden, this was followed by hurling stones, when the sisters came out to take pictures of the garbage in the garden.

Between 4:45 PM and 5:20 PM, large stones were thrown towards the monastery from the house next door, which shattered on the wall of the Chapel. This was followed by bottles and then more large stones thrown at the convent..

A Coptic priest was walking in the Jaffa Gate area, when 3 men spat at him. A complaint was filed with the police. The perpetrators were caught.

A visitor opened the Polish monastery gate to enter. Three children spat in her direction and fled toward the Braslav' school behind the monastery

A Catholic priest was walking in the open plaza outside the prayer area of the Western Wall. He was approached by a stewardess of the Western Wall Heritage Authority and told to take off his cross or to hide it.

A group of Orthodox Jews passed by the entry to the 2nd Station and spat at it.

A Jewish man spat on Christian pilgrims and threatened to stab them.

Stella Maris, Haifa 07/23/2023
About 30 yeshiva students approached the Stella Maris Church in Haifa. Friction arose with the local Christians. The Haifa police was called to the scene, separated the people, and forced the yeshiva students (mostly minors) to return to their bus.

Mt. Zion Jerusalem - next to restrooms 07/25/2023
A group of pilgrims with a tour guide and a pastor, was approached by a Jewish young man who aggressively silenced the female pastor from talking (not preaching nor leading a prayer). He shouted at them that they are not allowed to be there, nor talk there, that they should leave the Jewish state and used curse words. He approached them very close in an intimidating way and did not stop until the group left the area.

Two girls passed by the monastery on the eve of Tish'a B'Av and one spat at the monastery gate. Asked why, she replied: "Jerusalem is Jewish and should be ours"

Via Dolorosa Street, In front of 2nd Station. 07/27/2023
A group of religious Jews was walking towards the Lions Gate, passing the 2nd Station of the Via Dolorosa where pilgrims were standing as seen in the video. Some of them spat and one spitter spat twice in a demonstrative way.
Summary:
* 20 reported incidents of attacks and harassment were reported to the center in July:
7 cases of spitting on Christians and/ or Christian sites.
7 cases of vandalism.
2 cases of shouting at pilgrims.
2 cases of denying access to Christians with distinct Christian apparel.
1 case of denying services to a Christian.
1 case of approaching a Christian church, claiming the right to pray inside and outside as Jews since it is a holy place for Jews.

8 cases were reported to the police:
5 of the police complaints were filed with the assistance of the hotline volunteers.
3 cases led to the arrest of the perpetrators. Information about their names and their affiliation (yeshiva, settlement, synagogue, etc.) is unfortunately barred.
5 complaints to the police were filed by the Polish monastery.
· The hotline assistance to the Polish Monastery:
From their first hotline call on June 16th until the offenders were apprehended by authorities on July 15th, the Polish Monastery received daily help. Recurrent calls to the police, alerting and demanding involvement, particularly from the President's office, telling the media, registering internet complaints on behalf of the monastery, and assisting with translation vis-à-vis the police were all part of the hotline assistance. According to the Mother Superior, the involvement of the hotline was critical in influencing the attitude of the authorities toward their situation.
Current and future steps:
· Involvement of the Heads of Churches in the anti- attack campaign (e.g., the Latin Patriarch's letter to the religious communities urging collaboration with the hotline volunteers), has a significant impact on the Data Center's results. Victims of any given attack are more likely to report it through the Hotline and are more inclined to consider filing a complaint to the police.
· In the coming months, the center's volunteers will be assigned individually to all Christian institutions throughout the country to collect information about incidents of harassment, and thus in the future the center will provide clearer and more accurate data on the scope of the phenomenon.
· The center aims at recruiting lawyers to assist with filing complaints against the aggressors, following-up on police progress in handling them and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
